"Flatwork" covers the everyday concrete around a home or business: sidewalks, walkways, garage and shed floors, pads, and slabs. It looks simple, but it only lasts when the prep underneath is done right. Veteran One Contracting handles flatwork for homeowners, landlords, property managers, and businesses across Metro Detroit, with the same attention to base, drainage, and finish that we bring to every driveway.

Lifted or cracked sidewalk squares are a tripping hazard, and some cities send notices requiring repairs when public sidewalk sections fail. We remove damaged sections and pour new ones that match the grade of the surrounding walk, so the transition is smooth. If you've received a city sidewalk notice, call us and we'll walk through what's needed.
A new walkway from the driveway to your front entry, out to the backyard, or along the side of the house makes everyday trips easier and keeps mud out of the house. We form walkways to the width and route you want, sloped so water runs off, with a slip-resistant broom finish. Want something more decorative? See our stamped concrete page.
We pour garage floors, shed and AC pads, trash-can pads, parking pads, and other slabs on a compacted base, sloped for drainage where needed. For a garage floor in an existing garage, we remove the old floor, prep the base, and pour a new one.
Beyond homes, we take on sidewalks, pads, and interior and exterior slabs for commercial properties. See our commercial concrete page for more about working with businesses and property managers.
Every flatwork job follows the same core process: removal and haul-away of old material, base preparation and compaction, forming, reinforcement where appropriate, pouring and finishing, and control joints to manage natural cracking. We'll explain each stage and give you care guidance when we're done.
